The Cyber Scheme’s CSRTM (Cyber Scheme Red Team Manager) assessment has become the first new technical assessment to be mapped to the A competencies of Security Testing at Chartered Level.

After a thorough mapping exercise by the UK Cyber Security’s Council (UKCSC) Professionalisation team and Programme Board, the Cyber Scheme’s Red Team Manager (CSRTM) has been approved as a competency measure assessing individuals for Red Team Manager within the Security Testing specialism at Chartered Level.

As this was the first new certification being mapped by the Councils’ professionalisation team, a rigorous process was tested to ensure consistency and quality for the future mapping of further certifications.

The CSRTM assessment has now been mapped to the A competencies at Chartered Level, as laid out by the UKCSC Standard for Professional Competence and Commitment:

A-1: Demonstrate you have led, managed, or carried out activities that have a degree of complexity within their Specialism or across a number of Specialisms and understand how skills should be applied across a number of projects and to different environments.

A-2. Demonstrate you have applied analytical problem solving in meeting customer / organisational requirements.

A-3. Demonstrate you have led, managed, or coordinated continuous improvement to cyber security.

The Council and The Cyber Scheme are delighted to have worked so closely together on the development of this important assessment and encourage those with experience as Red Team Managers to apply for a Professional Title now that this option is available to them.

Sonja Lewis, Head of Professionalisation at The UK Cyber Security Council said:

The UK CSC team has worked closely with The Cyber Scheme to develop and implement our new mapping process, ensuring that quality remains at the core of everything we do. I’m thrilled that CSRTM has now been successfully mapped to the A competencies for Chartered in Security testing.

The awarding of a pass of the CSRTM assessment will allow candidates to apply for Chartered status in Security Testing and to use the Post Nominal ChCSP upon successful registration.
