Almost a year after our T Level workshops events in London, Birmingham and Manchester, in partnership with the Department of Education, we’re still stressing the importance of T Levels.
There’s still a skills gap within the cyber security profession and this still needs addressing. A report by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) revealed the significant number of unfilled jobs within cyber each year in the UK, and that number is expected to rise.
However, there is a new Cyber Security specialism within the Digital Support Services T Level which launched in September 2023. The T Level is designed to give young people an introduction to the world of cyber security and help them understand the many roles that exist within cyber security. With the support of organisations, this gives those aged 16-19 some practical experience working within cyber security, which can provide entry routes into the profession.
But we need more organisations to support young people getting into the cyber security profession through hosting T Level industry placements students.
Supporting young people into the cyber security is vital to ensuring that the skills gap decreases, and the T Level qualification provides an accessible route for young people looking to start their career in cyber security.
To make hosting T Level placements easier for organisation, we’ve created a business case and project plans for you to use and tailor within your own organisations to start your journey into hosting T Level placements. These project plans detail the tasks that students will undertake, the skills the student will develop during their industry placement and how the project plan links to their T Level qualifications. We’d love some feedback on these resources too as we want to ensure that we’re supporting in resolving the skills gap within the cyber security profession.
We're launching these resources at our T Levels webinar on 7th May 2024. Register to attend to be the first to access them.
