The McPartland Review of Cyber Security and Economic Growth was published in May, making 16 recommendations for harnessing the UK’s potential as a world leader in cyber security. The review was commissioned by Oliver Dowden MP, the Deputy Prime Minister, and Michelle Donelan MP, the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, but due to pre-election rules has been published directly by Stephen McPartland (available here: https://www.stephen-mcpartland.com/31-news/local-news/2248-mcpartland-review).
Among 16 recommendations, the Council is named as recommendation 4. McPartland urges further support from government and industry and encourages the Council to take a leadership role and take further steps to promote our standards in the cyber security workforce.
“the Council cannot achieve its goals without the active engagement and collaboration of the cyber security community, including industry, academia, government, and civil society.” - p21
We welcome this endorsement and will continue striving to provide standards, clarity and support to the profession. We are grateful for our wide network of collaborating organisations and look forward to welcoming even more input from the community and industry going forwards.
