After re-vamping its Certified Cyber Professional (CCP) accreditation scheme, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) also launched the first specialism in the new framework - Risk Management - in July. Unlike many professional accreditations the CCP is not a one-size-fits-all; instead applicants choose one or more areas of specialism and go through an evaluation process that examines their capabilities in that specific field, with Risk Management being the first to launch.

The NCSC stated that future specialisms will be led by demand from the market: “We started with Risk Management because that’s where we had evidence of the biggest need”. A Security Architecture specialism area is already under development, with Cyber Security Audit next on the list.

The NCSC website has both the full announcement about the Risk Management specialism and general information about the CCP.
