Why volunteer?

People may choose to volunteer for a number of reasons: to giving back to the community, or to make a difference to the people around them, or to undertake CPD and build new skills, for example. The Council has volunteering opportunities across a wide variety of areas for you to get involved with.

We're looking for volunteers who will use their professional skills and knowledge to further the work of the Council and help achieve our vision for the UK to be one of the most secure places anywhere in the world to do business online.

Applications are sought to engage in the following activities for the Council’s Qualification & Learning working group:

  • research and attribute a minimum standard of knowledge and skills to each of the 16 specialisms based on CyBOK topic acronyms and CIISec skills group and levels
  • allocate skills and knowledge standards for each specialism across the three UK Cyber Security Council registration grades
  • evaluate the exam syllabuses of qualifications and certifications to confirm their attribution to one (or more) specialism(s) at one of the three UK Cyber Security Council registration grades

Note that these are non-remunerated [volunteer] positions. Members may claim normal out-of-pocket expenses only.
