Meet the Youth Advisory Panel

A group of young volunteers passionate about shaping the future of the cyber security profession with the Council.

Purpose and Mission

Pathways

1. Inspire people from all areas and skills into a cyber security career.

2. Empower young people in the UK by championing cyber security awareness.

3. Make young people aware of routes into the industry they might have missed such as apprenticeships, societies/fellowships, training, conferences.

4. Demystify routes into cyber security through advocating for clear pathways, from those in education to career changers.

5. Demystify the day-to-day of cyber professionals to allow others to make the right decision when selecting career specialisms.

6. Show that anyone can get into cyber - not just ‘computer nerds’.

7. Advocate for clear career progression and recognition of achievements within the cyber security profession.

Representation

8. Openly share our experiences and support those who would like the direction and support in their cyber journey.

9. Allow the voice of young people in cyber security to be heard.

10. Encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing among youth, industry professionals, and educational institutions.

11. Serve as role models for young people interested in entering cyber security.

12. Make sure young people (and their interests) are represented within the frameworks and structures created by the wider UK Cyber Security Council

Accessibility

13. Break down barriers to entry into cyber security.

14. Encourage an established pathway so the cyber industry is accessible to all.

15. Advocate for more realistic requirements for entry-level cyber roles.

16. Help entry level cyber security professionals understand the requirements for cyber security roles in the public and private sector.
